We've had a look at the research for you

There is a lot of research about the benefits of flotation therapy (or sensory deprivation as it is also known). It has shown to be particularly beneficial for treating anxiety, depression, PTSD, stress or burnout, inflammatory diseases, chronic pain, and sleep disorders.

We know that stress and burnout are on the rise in Denmark, and even if they haven’t experienced a complete burnout, more people report symptoms of stress like muscle pain, headaches, anxiety or nervousness, mood swings, depression, and difficulty sleeping.

There are several studies showing that flotation therapy helps people recover from burnout. In some cases, sick leave was halved for those who included floating as part of their recovery.

There is extensive research on the effects of floating on people suffering from anxiety. Anxiety comes in many different forms, and it is estimated that up to half of us will experience some form of anxiety during our lives.

We decided to review the literature on the effects of floatation therapy on stress, burnout, anxiety, and recovery, and from this, we have created our “Stress Report.” It is written by researcher and float fan Viktor Byström and Shelley Livingstone (our founder and float expert).

It is available for free download here. Please share it with anyone who might find it interesting, and contact us if you think floating could be something for you. We have various programs and more information that we can send to you.
